New FREE Pattern: Simple Gauntlets

These gauntlets are fast, simple, and very satisfying. They make quick, easy gifts that stand out.

They use 1 skein of Noro Odori, a soft & comfortable yarn that changes colour all by itself (it feels like Noro Taiyo, but it's thicker). The yarn’s texture and depth of colour works with the simple design to create extra interest and a unique, handmade aesthetic.

New Free Pattern: Easy Loose Cabled Cowl

This pattern is a simple, straightforward, easy project great for new knitters (great way to learn cables). It knits up fast on thick yarn and BIG needles (12mm).  It's easy, is a satisfying quickie, and looks impressive to non-knitters (hint: it's very giftable).

It is made with one skein of Brown Sheep Company Burly Spun (not bad at $20.97 per skein),  but it would also make an excellent excuse to buy a couple of skeins of Malabrigo Rasta (especially in their luminescent semi-solid colours).

TTC Knitalong make a Splash!

Thanks to Yvette/A Long Yarn for the photos!

Many thanks to the 100 ladies (and one husband) who made the 2012 TTC Knitalong a huge success! They raised a very respectable amount of money for Sistering, and had a blast doing it. The Torontoist even took note of their journey.

Kudos especially go to the organizers. It's a big, tough, volunteer job, and we appreciate their hard work. :-)

NEW Schoppel Wolle Zauberball

  • Sock yarn with a very long colourway (it makes stripes all by itself)
  • Very popular for scarfy little shawls, makes a GREAT Bermuda
  • 100g/420m, 2 to 3mm needles
  • 75% virgin wool, 25% nylon
  • Pattern Ideas
  • $20.97 per cute ball

I love this version of the Noro Striped Scarf (freebie pattern) using Zauberball in colours 1993 & 1963.

I also adore how this Baktus worked out, using 1 skein of Zauberball 1993 and 1 skein on a solid coloured yarn.
