This simple crochet scarf/wrap is a great project for crocheters of all levels! It's easy and makes a great gift. Use up stashed sock yarn or pick up that pretty little skein  you've been eyeing (I'm thinking some Madeline Tosh Merino Light might come home with me).

• fingering weight yarn: 420m (460 yards)

A simple something, light and easy for spring and summer. Use a light cotton like Cascade Ultra Pima Fine, which is easy to wear all year round, and crochet's like a dream, and won't break the bank. I think this pattern would also look amazing made with Freia Ombre Lace with it's gradual colour shift, or Schoppel Crazy Zauberball. 

• Cascade Ultra Pima Fine (7 skeins: 1 in each of 3 lightest colours, 2 in each of 2 darkest colours)

The very good people at Vogue Knitting Magazine have published a special issue for Crochet Patterns - and it's great!  Sometimes crochet patterns lean towards the kitschy, but this magazine contains a lot of patterns you'll want to make AND wear. The instructions are written out, and accompanied by diagrams. There are also very useful articles about seaming crocheted garments and decoding crochet symbols and reading crochet diagrams.  The price is also very reasonable at only $7.99.

Notes

The pattern repeat for this blanket is 14 +2 sts, so if you want to increase or reduce the size of your project, add or subtract stiches in multiples of 14. Each ripple measures approximately 4”. Additionally, don't be afraid to skip over part of the colourway if it isn't working, sometimes Noro throws in a colour that's a dud.
