Summer is an odd time for a lot of knitters. they want to keep their hands busy but they don't want to work with wool in the heat and they aren't really inpored to make any garments.
Option 1: Knit & Crochet for Charity
If you don't know what to do but you just want to keep your hands busy consider knittng for charity. Chairty knitting is fast is also great for using up scraps and leftover yarn. Before you put your needles together check the requirements for the charity you are going to donate to: Streetknit recommends using synthetics like acrylic while Afghans for Afghans recommends using animal fibers (wool)

Angel Hugs Canada
Angel Hugs Canada is a non-profit charity group of volunteers located in Mississauga Ontario, Canada.
They knit or crochet items for babies, children and adults that have suffered a severe trauma or serious life threatening illness , young mothers at risk and the homeless.
Mother Bear Project
The Mother Bear Project is a grass-roots, non-profit group dedicated to providing comfort and hope to children, primarily those affected by HIV/AIDS in emerging nations, by giving them a gift of love in the form of hand-knit and crocheted bears.
Project Linus
Project Linus works to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans.
Streetknit
Streetknit collects and donates handmade hats, scarves, mittens, socks and sweaters to the homeless of Toronto. Donations are given to Toronto outreach programs.
