joy
Happy-Happy! Joy-Joy! Needful Joy has virtually nothing to do with Ren & Stimpy & everything to do with gettin' your knit on. It is soft (merino is as merino does), fluffy, stripes up with a long colourway (that's the 'technical' term for stripey yarn) and felts like crazy. and you know the best part about feltability? Yup, you can spit-felt the ends when you change balls!
My favourite colour is the multi-coloured, carnivalesque one in the upper-right hand corner of the picture. 50g/78m, 17 sts & 20 r on 5mm to 5.5mm needles.
Needful Joy ~ $10.50
Romantic Style
Apparenlt scanners are as tempermental as cameras, but this shrug is one of my favourite patterns from "Romanitc Style" by Jennie Atkinson. The more I look at this book, the more it inspires me. It's pretty, ye-oldee vintage, Lacy McLace. Atkinson is a Rowan designer and the style is concrete, all the pieces are as pretty as a beleaguered princess asleep in a tall tower, no misses. i also really like the home projects (i know i'm in the minorty on this, but i really like making home accessories), think Martha Stewart does doilies. (more riffs on the subject will be posted at frayed at the edges). Softcover.
"Romantic Style" By jennie Atkinson ~ $41.99
modern classics
I really like Louisa Harding's new book "Modern Classics". It's one of my favourite kinds of books, it's focus is exclusively basic, timeless sweater patterns. Louisa knows classic style, she came up through Rowan. These are my favourite because these are the ones I'm always looking for, I always come back to and I always wear. With a foundational pattern you can plug in a wild, colourful yarn and all the work's done for you. You want to modify the pattern, make it shorter or longer or different sleeves or even plopping in a lace or cable motif ... so much the better. These are the patterns I need to have around so I can buy yarns without a designated project or for when i see something in a store and need the base pattern to tweak. A book like this is worth a whole archive of back issues of knitting magazines ... well, very close. Soft cover.
"Modern Classics" by Louisa Harding ~ $44.99
lantern silk cases
Now these ones, these puppies are too nice to play with. Well, I'm thinking of playing dress up with 'em. Next time i need an evening bag i know just what to use. Size large: dark rose. Size Small: violet, sapphire, rose.
Lantern Moon Silk Taffeta Needle Case, Small ~ $54
Lantern Moon Silk Taffeta Needle Case, Large ~ $60
lantern silk bags
I play solitaire with the Lantern Moon silk taffeta bags when nobody's around. Colours available: ruby, fuchsia, violet, aqua, emerald.
Lantern Moon Silk Taffeta Bags ~ $14
Lantern Moon Raw Silk Cases
I like to stack the Raw Silk Lantern Moon cases like wooden blocks. Colours in stock: black, tangerine, gold, ruby.
Lantern Moon Raw Silk Knitting Needle Cases ~ $52
lantern moon silk cases
new needle cases from Lantern Moon ... playing pick-up sticks with these needles cases isn't as much fun as the mini ones, but stowing away my needles has been elevated to tea with the Queen. Available in Plum or Blue/Grey
Lantern Moon Large Silk Knitting Needle Case ~ $56
lantern needle sleeves
When i'm alone in the store and don't want to work i play "pick-up sticks" with the Lantern Moon needle sleeves. There are all kinds of good reasons to buy these things (Lantern Moon is all about good deeds & helping people), but basically they're real purty.
Lantern Moon Knitting Needle Sleeves ~ $13
rumbah
new this year at knit-o-matic is Koigu Rumba. Tee-Hee! it's light and fluffy as a cloud, especially that peachy looking one. happy skiens of soft, hand-dyed mohair.
Koigu Rumba ~ $16
kpm
i picked up a new colour of Koigu KPM, olive green. The colours in this picture have been lightened for you viewing ease, a hightened reality. the actual colours are not as bright or light, they're just right. i'm a poet & don't know it! if you're looking for a particular colour in KPM let me know, i can get it, i'm hooked up.
Koigu KPM ~ $13
kersti
why is it blurry? because creative people are not necessarily good photographers. my apologies, if you come and visit it in the store you'll find that up close & personal the yarn is not out of focus. 4 sweater-rific colours! (they are also sock-rific and mitt-rific and hat-rific ... you see where i'm going).
Koigu Kersti ~ $14
