NEW Magazines!
Knitting Traditions (Special Issue), $16.95
The new special magazine Knitting Traditions from Interweave has arrived! It's full of quality patterns and articles on traditional knitting techniques and old fashioned aesthetics. This issue is VERY informative, including an article on the anatomy of a cowichan sweater and knitting 2 socks at once (a la War and Peace, with one inside the other). There are lots of sock, mitten, shawl and traditional style sweaters.
Piecework Magazine $8.99
We just got in a special Historical Knitting Issue of Piecework magazine. Check out their website, there is a freebie pattern and a profile of Rowan Yarns that also includes a pattern for a Kaffe Fasset style scarf (the scarf looks like tedious knitting, you have to changes colours manual can use one of the yarns from the Kafe Fasset Design Line by Regia to get the exact same striping effect). It also features a new pattern stitch by Barbara Walker (cover).
Knitscene Winter-Spring 2010 $9.99
The new winter/spring 2010 Knitscene is so popular that we sold out, but we've got it in stock again! Check out the projects HERE.

NEW Dream in Color Smooshy & Starry!
Dream in Colour Smooshy - $24.65
Smooshy is like Dream in Color's Classy but skinnier - like its supermodel cousin. It's soft and purty, just like all of the other Dreams in Colour, is a fingering weight/sock yarn, and washable.
- 450 yards/410m - approx 100g
- 6.5 to 8 sts. per inch
- 2.5mm to 3mm needles
Dream in Color Starry - $28.50
Ooooo, it's sparkly! But not too much, it's not named 'Blingy'. A hint of glimmer makes this yarn resemble a starry sky. I'm in magpie city! Starry is Smooshy's rock star cousin - it's still washable sock yarn, it's just got a glint of glimmer.
- 450 yards/410m - approx 100g
- 6.5 to 8 sts. per inch
- 2.5mm to 3mm needles
Project Idea: Citron Scarf/Shawlette (only takes 1 skein). You can also use any of our project suggestions from our latest Misti Hand Paint Sock Posting!

New Book: Sock Club
Sock Club: Join the Knitting Adventure $29.95
This book consists of 23 patterns from private micro yarn dyers' sock clubs - so basicalls these are patterns that you would only have had access to if you were a paying member of the club. You get a great selection of niiiiiiice sock patterns in a variety of styles and yarns. I'm not a sock knitter but there are some very pretty lace, cables and ribs for your tender tootsies! There are a few simpler patterns, but this book is really geared towards the technical sock knitter.
New Books: Nature's Wraptutre
Nature's Wraptutre: Contemporary Knitted Shawls - $29.95
This is a great little book! Shawls are a great medium sized project but the patterns are frequently very involved and call for super-fine yarns. Not this book, no cobwebs here! There is a variety of shalws & wraps and they are all straightforward and knitted in yarns substantially thicker than the normal gossamer. There are some lace stitches and cables involved in some of the projects but none are complicated and all are accessible to lace/cable novices. Finally, a shawl book for the rest of us! :-)
