Crafternoon Tea

Hey Hayley
Hope you're doing well.
Just wondering, if you could remind anyone you who's planning to apply to Crafternoon Tea that the deadline is next week: Tuesday March 21st!
Here's the info (below), in case you've deleted you copy...
Bye for now,
N-R :]

Calling all emerging T.O. craftistas...
crafternoon tea wants you!
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
What: Crafternoon Tea is an indie craft-fashion market, how-to hive and charity tea-room all in one. Organized by local writer/designer Nathalie-Roze Fischer, the event will showcase approximately 30 local craftista-designer/makers, plus a traditional ENglish tea service (tea, scones, sweets & sandwiches, etc.), a DIY demo zone, a fabric & craft supply swap and a stellar charity raffle.
The very first Crafternoon Tea (Nov. 19, 2005) was crammed with local talent and lots of busy-fun. Over 400 keen shoppers attended, sales were brisk and the targeted charities received more than $1800 and multiple product donations.
Next CT: Saturday May 27th, 2006 (10:30am - 6pm)
Where: Bellefair United Church, 2002 Queen St. East (E. of Woodbine in the Beaches...across from Kew Gardens)
N-R is looking for: handcrafted and unsual items with a quirky-cool aesthetic - accessories, clothing, housewares, jewellery, paper goods, superb homemade edibles and beauty products, DIY kits, soft toys and all kinds of fresh crafty goodness.
Note: Merch should be accessibly priced - at least, half of your stock should be under $50...ideally, nothing over $125.
COST: Booths are $75 for a small/3x4ft, $110 for a large/3x8ft - chairs and tables are provided
Large 3x8ft tables for commercial businesses & schools are $125
NOTE: Discount for Returning Vendors/CT Alumni: Small spot $60, Large spot $90
Sweet Charity : Once again, funds raised via the tea-room, door admission and raffle will benefit two local non-profits. Last time the targeted charities were the Red Door Women's Shelter and ArtHeart - this show's recipient's are not yet confirmed.
Note: Each vendor is expected to donate a raffle prize valued at $20 or more.
DIY Demos: If you're interested in volunteering to demonstrate your craft or want to lead an informal 1-hour workshop during CT (a fun way to promote you & your biz), please indicate this with your application.
Note: Vendors who volunteer in the DIY Zone will receive free booth-sitting, inclusion in promotional materials, a cool thank-u gift and a $20 rebate on their booth fees.
Promotion: As per last show, CT will be thoroughly publicized via various media outlets (local dailies, community papers, radio, on-line resources, etc.) as well as through a poster & flyer campaign, show zine and some paid advertising.
CT Vendors will be provided with e-vites and paper flyers to distribute to their own contacts.
Interested?
Please apply by sending N-R a single e-mail ( info@nathalie-roze.com ) that includes ALL of the following:
1. CONTACT INFO - Your name, the name of your business & your contact details (e-mail/website/tel. number, plus your complete snailmail address with main cross streets indicated - this is for promo mail-outs/flyer drop-offs)
2. YOUR PROFILE - Provide 1-2 paragraphs describing your wares/what you make, the process and materials used, price range, where you currently sell (shops, on-line, other shows), specific items you hope to vend at Crafternoon Tea - eg. your spring line
Note: this info will be used in the show programme/zine, if you're accepted.
3. PHOTOS: 2-4 crisp, clear digital pix of your most current work (what you will sell at CT)...please avoid sending huge files & make sure they're sharp/in-focus!
Do not direct N-R to websites or links as a substitute for actual image files - send individual jpegs, ideally shots of your merch on a white background.
4. BOOTH PREFERENCE - Identify which size booth you'd prefer (small or large)
5. DEMO? Indicate whether or not you'd like to do a craft demo or lead a workshop at the event (consider the perks!)
NOTE: Images & bio-blurbs/product descriptions will be used for promotional purposes (CT website, media kits, in the show zine, etc.) starting in April - very important!
--
Deadline: Tuesday March 21, 2006
NOTE: There's already a lot of interest in the next Crafternoon Tea, so please send in your *completed* application by the deadline (March 21, 2006). Last time over 100 applications came in for 30 spots, so don't procrastinate.
Late or incomplete applications won't be considered. Seriously.
The CT vendors list will be e-mailed to all applicants by April 7th, 2006.
If you're not interested in participating yourself, but know of someone who might want a spot at Crafternoon Tea - please pass this message onto them.
And, please come out to the event for a day of inspired crafts & nibbles!

Opal yarns - Baby Sock Contest

We are knitting the longest laundry line of baby socks in the world!!

PROJECT DETAILS. . .
Beginning: January 20, 2006 at 12 noon
Ending: May 27, 2006 at 12 noon

On May 27th., this project will accompany the first International Opal Sock Knitters’ Meeting in Hechingen. Germany.

Anyone can participate, regardless of whether he or she takes part in the meeting in Hechingen.

On 27. May 2006 at 12 noon, the baby socks will be hung on a clothesline in Hechingen, counted, and the length of the clothesline with the socks will be measured. Will our laundry line of baby socks be in the “Guinness Book of World Records?”

The main purpose of this program is not to set a world record, but to provide socks for a good cause!

After the program is over, the socks will be donated by Tutto GmbH to charity organizations. Shelters for abused women and their children, (many of which do not receive government funding), are a cause that Wolfgang Zwerger especially supports, and they will be the main recipients of the socks.

Baby socks are a great way to use up those scraps of sock yarn, and keep some child’s feet warm as well. Please knit along with us and help out!

And that's where we come in folks!!
Thus, our contest was born!!
