News-O-Matic

the new Twilley's Freedom Wool book has arrived - lots of lovely & simple patterns for Twilley's Freedom Wool (red not shown). Just like their Freedom Cotton and Freedom Denim, their wool is very Rowanesque at a very un-rowan price - $5.50 a ball (50g/50m, 8 to 10mm needles).

a preview of Interweave Knitting's winter issue

a new Lopi book is coming out, something i never thought i'd be excited about , but i saw the preview and the patterns are AMAZING! They had a gorgeous coat, handbags, and a totally cool poncho that was very retro and very hip while still maintaining it's very icelandic style.Posted by Hello

New Addition to the Knitomatic Family

woof! found this at KOLKID on Queen st, down from Romni and it was a HAD TO HAVE IT moment. No regrets. The folks at KOLKID say the website is not up to date, but Oliebollen, eat your heart out! My favoreite things at Kolkid are of vcourse their hand knitted toys. They carry soem very fashionable cotton toys hand made somewhere in south america by BlaBla and my personal favorite, Critter from the Kenana Knitters in Kenya (I'm not sure how legit the the anti-exploitation claims are for Blabla (and my friend Ben's teddy got all bally in a way that cotton should not), but The Kenana Knitters are totally cool - my friend Ari used to live next door to them when he lived in Kenya.Posted by Hello

Gillian's got her Guardian!

Thanks to the benevolent people at Arthur's Juice and the good people at City-Tv's speaker's corner Gillian has finally got a service dog! Arthur's is the ONLY juice in this store's fridge from now on. I knew it was worth the buck .... :-)

Keep your eyes peeled for an article in the shopping section of this Saturday's Toronto Star for a little knit-lit.

I think I've figured out the austermann cabled sweater substitution connundrum. i'm going to try the Twilley's Freedom Wool, it should only take 9 or 10 skeins, only $55 retail - not bad! Posted by Hello
